What Is a Smart Policy
What is a Smart Policy? Chatito's name for self-custody crypto automation: you keep the wallet and sign a capped, expiring rule. Not a vault.

What is a Smart Policy? It is Chatito's name for self-custody on-chain automation. You keep the wallet. You keep the tokens. You keep the NFT. You sign a capped, expiring, revocable rule. The system may then act only inside that rule, and only send results back to you.
That is not a vault. That is not "send the bag to a box and hope." Most DeFi still asks you to hand custody over first, then trust the box. Chatito refuses that model.
The point is the same spine as the rest of the product: run the system, not the dopamine. Write the rule when you are calm. Let execution stay inside limits. Keep capital control with you.
You Stay The Custodian
Self-custody crypto automation sounds like a slogan until you name who holds the coins.
On Chatito, the bag does not move into a Chatito wallet. It does not sit in an executor address "for safekeeping." The policy is a rule the chain can enforce. The assets stay where they already are: your wallet.
That is the whole product promise, said without theater:
- You remain the custodian.
- The policy may pull only what you granted.
- Output, leftovers, and any new NFT can go only back to the wallet that signed.
If a product takes a deposit, holds the NFT, or needs an unlimited approve, it is not a Smart Policy. It is custody. Use the honest word.
The Properties That Make It A Policy
A Smart Policy is not "we wrote a smart contract." Vaults are smart contracts. Unlimited approve targets are smart contracts. Upgradeable proxies that can change the rules later are smart contracts.
The product primitive is the rule you signed. These properties all have to be true:
| Property | Meaning |
|---|---|
| You stay the custodian | Balances and position NFTs never leave to sit in Chatito |
| Capped | Only the granted amount. Not the rest of the wallet |
| Expiring | After the time you set, the policy is dead |
| Revocable | You can stop it now. Remaining goes to zero |
| Recipient-locked | Output can go only to the signing wallet |
| Atomic | Act, then return. Revert means nothing left behind |
| Not Live | Signing does not arm a strategy |
Skip one of those and you are back to hoping a box behaves.
Why The Word Policy Matters
People hear "smart contract" and think safety. The chain running code is not a custody promise.
A policy is closer to a trade-only exchange API key than to a deposit account. Limited remote control. Not the vault door. You decide the cap, the expiry, and the allowed actions. Then you stop negotiating every candle, because the rule already exists.
Engineers may still say passthrough in code. Users should never be told to send the bag in. The public language stays Smart Policy.
This is how Chatito talks about automation once the rules are stable: the human designs the limit. The keeper may work inside it. The human can revoke.
How It Fits The Rest Of Chatito
Same philosophy, different surface.
| Surface | Custody story |
|---|---|
| CEX | Trade-only exchange API keys. Balances stay on the exchange, under your account |
| Propose and Sign | You sign every mint, collect, rebalance, or close yourself. No grant required |
| Smart Policy | You sign the rule once. The keeper may act only inside it |
| Agents | Paper and read. Never live. Never a policy they can open or revoke |
CEX keys and Smart Policies are cousins. Both are limited remote control. Neither is "give us the bag."
Revoke is not the Live switch. If the strategy was already Live, it stays Live. The book falls back to manual Sign. The keeper cannot spend after revoke. Signing a policy does not arm Live either. Live is a separate human switch. Design the rules. Sample them. Arm capital only when the process holds.
Two Policies, Same Thesis
Two Smart Policies ship today. Different jobs. Same custody thesis.
| Policy | Job |
|---|---|
| DEX Executor | Swaps. Pull, route, return 100% to you |
| LP Executor | Mint, collect, rebalance, close. Tokens and the position NFT stay yours |
Do not send tokens or NFTs to either address.
Chains listed in docs: Base, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum One, Ethereum, Polygon, Robinhood Chain, HyperEVM, and Solana. A contract on a chain is not a promise that your account can use that path today. Trust the app, not a blog table.
Public Sign is audit-locked. This post explains the model. It is not an invite to Sign.
What This Is Not
- Not a place to send tokens
- Not a Chatito deposit wallet
- Not unlimited approve
- Not a seed-phrase product
- Not a promise that Live is open for every account
- Not "the smart contract holds your money"
Never paste a recovery phrase into Chatito. We never ask for one.
Read The Source, Then The Waitlist
The canonical write-up is Smart Policy. Custody of keys and CEX credentials lives on Custody and Keys.

Strategies over emotions. The policy is how automation stays inside a rule you already accepted, instead of a mood you have not written down yet.
Not financial advice. On-chain automation and trading can lose money. Caps and expiry limit a grant. They do not make a strategy good.
Not financial advice. Trading and prediction markets involve risk of loss. Past or paper results do not guarantee future performance.
FAQ
- What is a Smart Policy?
- Chatito's name for self-custody on-chain automation. You keep the wallet, the tokens, and any position NFT. You sign a capped, expiring, revocable rule. The system may act only inside that rule, and only send results back to you.
- Is a Smart Policy a vault?
- No. A vault takes the bag first. A Smart Policy leaves balances in your wallet. If a product asks you to send tokens in, or holds the NFT, it is custody. Call it that.
- Does signing a policy turn Live on?
- No. Signing a policy is not the Live switch. Live is a separate human action. Revoke is not the Live switch either. After revoke, the keeper cannot spend. The book can fall back to manual Sign.
- What can a Smart Policy actually do today?
- Two shipped policies. The DEX Executor can swap inside the grant. The LP Executor can mint, collect, rebalance, or close. Tokens and the LP NFT stay in your wallet. Different jobs. Same custody thesis.
- Can an AI agent open or revoke a Smart Policy?
- No. Agents can paper and read. They cannot open, revoke, or arm a Smart Policy for you.
Not financial advice. Trading involves risk of loss. Paper ≠ live.
